SSD NVME M2 Speed Performance Test

For Micron/Crucial SSD, There is Momentum Cache  option. Download and install Storage Executive option.

For Samsung regular SSD, need to enable RAPID MODE, increase performance to NVME level

First of all,  need to change the settings in the BIOS (DMI/PCIe speed link to Gen 3), Otherwise will only get about 900mb/s. Also the M slot and PCIe adapter needs to support X4 mode (or 4 lanes).  


dd test below is not very accurate on Linux. Phoronix Test Suite works better


dd if=/dev/zero of=output bs=100k count=10k

This will write a 1000MB file in the current directory.

sudo mount -t tmpfs -o size=10g ext4 /ram

This will create a 10GB ramdrive and mount it to /ram
