For Micron/Crucial SSD, There is Momentum Cache  option. Download and install Storage Executive option.

For Samsung regular SSD, need to enable RAPID MODE, increase performance to NVME level

===========================================
First of all,  need to change the settings in the BIOS (DMI/PCIe speed link to Gen 3), Otherwise will only get about 900mb/s. Also the M slot and PCIe adapter needs to support X4 mode (or 4 lanes).

dd test below is not very accurate on Linux. Phoronix Test Suite works better http://www.phoronix-test-suite.com/?k=downloads

============================================

dd if=/dev/zero of=output bs=100k count=10k

This will write a 1000MB file in the current directory.

sudo mount -t tmpfs -o size=10g ext4 /ram

This will create a 10GB ramdrive and mount it to /ram
