How to print off of Catnip in the Lab

Two things, add this to the top:

To connect to Catnip from linux workstation:
1. Open a console and type showcatnip
2. A window will appear prompting you for your password. (If you have not
logged on before you will need to contact Dr. Xu or Matthew Caylor to
set your password.)
3. When you are done click start and log off. (Not disconnect.)

And here are the instructions on how to use the NFS mount.

To connect to NFS savor mount for the First time.
1. Open Start->My Computer
2. In the address bar type \\192.168.1.2
3. You should see one item, \home
4. Right click on \home and click map network drive
5. Select H: as the drive letter (H for home...but mostly for consistency reasons.)
6. When it asks about user id and group id click yes
7. Windows should automatically open the H: drive in a seperate window (Go back to My Computer
and open it if it does not.)
8. Navigate H:->lab->usr->[your lab username]
9. Right click on the folder called view and hit copy.
10. On the desktop of Catnip right click and select "Paste as Shortcut"
11. Close all windows, and double check that the shortcut is working by double clicking on it.

To reconnect to NFS savor mount (once per log in.)
1.  Open the shortcut to view by double clicking it
2. Answer yes to the question about user and gorup ids
3. After that, just open view normally

How to use Tectia File Transfer:
(You must set up a profile before doing the next steps,
if you need help seek Matthew)
1. Open Tectia File Transfer.
(Go to Start, All Programs,SSH Tectia Client, Click on File Transfer Client)
2. Click on Quick Connect (This is only able to work if a profile is set up)
3. The host name will be "savor.boisestate.edu"
4. The User name will be you name that you use in lab, for example "aehrlicher"
5. Click on Connect
6. Enter in your lab password. Click Ok. Click Ok.
You will now be able to transfer items from savor to catnip.

If you need to open up a terminal window,
right beside the copy and paste is the terminal window button.

If you want to have graphics,
you need to click Start, All Programs, Xming, Xming. This will allow for anything that
need graphics to have it.


When wanting to print, you will have to run the printer.bat file everytime you log on.

How to print on Xeron located in room 335 from Catnip:
(You will need to have a batch file from the Shared Documents Folder that says
"printer" copy it from the folded to the Desktop)
(You will need to right click on the file "printer" and click edit. Where it says
"bronco web user name" replace with your bronco web user name)
1. Double click on the batch file "printer"
2. Enter in bronco web password
Next steps you will only have to do once; but if you have already, you can now print.
If not, continue to the next step.
3. From the Desktop, Go to Start, Printers and Faxes.
4. Click on Add a Printer
5. Click Next, Next
6. Have the bubble Connect to this printer in green instead of Browse for a printer.
7. Where it says name type in "\\chemghost.boisestate.edu\chem_xerox01"
8. You do want the printer to be the default printer.
9. Click Finish


How to print on HP Printer located in room 331 from Catnip:
(You will need to have a batch file from the Shared Documents Folder that says
"printer" copy it from the folded to the Desktop)
(You will need to right click on the file "printer" and click edit. Where it says
"bronco web user name" replace with your bronco web user name)
1. Double click on the batch file "printer"
2. Enter in bronco web password
Next steps you will only have to do once; but if you have already, you can now print.
If not, continue to the next step.
